Chris Box

‘Pilot’ was created using 4 differently cut blocks of lino and each was rolled with different coloured inks. The sky block used a lighter blue graduating to white on the roller. The block for the sea was rolled with a darker blue. The block for the shell of the Pilot Boat was rolled with orange ink. The last block for the border and boat detail was rolled with black ink. Each block was then passed through the press to overlay the colours to the paper.

Chris Box retired to Queenscliff in 2014 and has since then been steadily creating art works with a preference for prints, linocuts in particular. He has been involved in a number of solo and joint exhibitions usually at the Queenscliff Neighbourhood House Art Gallery. He is Chair of the House Gallery’s Committee.

His print “Years as Trolleys” was purchased by the National Gallery of Australia. www.printsandprintmaking.gov.au/works/20004/
