Wayne grew up climbing an extinct volcano, Mount Elephant, in Western Victoria and can’t help but wonder how much of an influence this had on the way he looked at the world. Sitting for hours looking down upon the landscape…each of Wayne’s artworks is a story, with many created from a bird’s eye view, allowing the artist and viewer to interpret and prioritise the landscape…while walking the landscape creates a vehicle to be immersed in the environs at ground level, absorbing all the aspects like a sponge.

“This lived experience is the catalyst for my visual narratives, and it is reflective in practice and endeavours to make sense of the moment. The immersion within the environment allows me to respond, creating a reimagined representation in the form of an artwork,” he says.
