Fiona Basile

Fiona Basile is a highly accomplished freelance

photographer and writer with over two decades

in her creative profession. Based in bayside Seaford,

her professional journey has spanned continents,

providing her with a rich tapestry of experiences

in diverse cultures and environments.

With a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for capturing life’s essence, Fiona continues to inspire others to embrace the beauty and vibrancy of our world through her remarkable work. She seeks to build bridges and deepen our understanding of what makes us human, and what connects us.

Immerse is her latest body of photographic work, featuring an array of breath-taking images captured throughout 2021-2023. It also features stories from men and women who find solace and joy in open water swimming, and in the community and connection it brings to self, others, and the natural world. These stunning photographs are all available as fine art wall prints via Fiona’s website (see below).

In exploring this vast and beautiful world, Fiona has travelled to Sweden, South America, Malawi, and Europe for extended periods of time. Her documentary work has been exhibited internationally in the USA and Sweden, as well as Melbourne. Fiona’s next adventure takes her to Rwanda in July 2024 for another very special documentary project.

Fiona’s photographs have been published in an array of commissioned books including Pia’s Table: Recipes by Pia Gava, Food for the Highways and Byways: Celebrating 75 years of the Missionary Sisters of Service, Food for the Soul: Celebrating 60 years of Holy Family Parish Glen Waverley, Tarrawarra Abbey: A Cistercian Monastery, and Keeping Our Kids At Heart. She is the author of the award-winning children’s book, Shhh…God is in the Silence, published by Loyola Press in the United States.

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Journalism from Deakin University, Geelong, and Melbourne. She also studied  at the International College of Professional Photography, South Melbourne.

When not photographing, or writing, you’ll find Fiona in

the water, on the dance floor, reading, or cooking up a

storm in the kitchen for family and friends (her family roots

are in Sicily, Italy!)
