Some may see Joan Bulpit as an anomaly in the world of art, she is a self taught artist with an eclectic nature who has managed to mix an artistic lifestyle with a career in construction working on Major Projects.
While heading to her day job she embraces basic imagery always looking for creative ideas in shapes and forms around her.
Half-finished paintings may lean against the walls of her home for 6 months before an epiphany will enlighten the final creation.
Her art involves painting, printmaking, installation, drawing and art for practical daily use items always expanding her horizons.
Her first exhibition was in an Elite car showroom and she was astonished that others enjoyed her art as much as she loved painting it. Since then Joan has held three more exhibitions in a quaint local Port Melb church hall, the heart of her community. She has also hung her Art works in numerous local and peninsular restaurants.
Travel was one of the most influential inspirations of her life.
When she paints Joan embraces either earth tones of nature or bright explosions of colour and complexity of the places she’s been, things that she’s done, food she’s eaten and cultures she’s interacted with.
She loves her art as it enables her to remain true to her bohemian soul.
